November 11th of 2008 marks the one-year anniversary of TVB Reflections! The site has continued and expanded its vision of providing creative write-ups on TVB happenings including satires, news, comics, and much more. Although her site drew inspirations from TVB series, her online alias as Aeris reflects another popular interest - the Final Fantasy franchise. But beyond her passion for series and video games, Aeris has many other academic and leisure interests.
Currently a first year graduate student in Biomedical Sciences, Aeris is particularly interested in infectious diseases, virology, and cancer/stem cell research. In her spare time, Aeris indulges herself not only with online activities as you've been witnessed to, but also in art and music. For this interview, Aeris has generously provided us a peek into her art porfolio - a drawing from years back of a Chinese villager - as displayed to your left. Music has also been an important component of her life. In fact, Aeris considers "having 17 years of experience playing the piano" as her greatest accomplishment. Among all classical composers, Aeris most appreciates the works of Frédéric Chopin, particularly his nocturnes and ballads. Her favorite song, however, is a personal composition. [TkN is thinking of creative ways to steal the music sheets. Or better, let us hear a recording of your playing, Aeris. *wink wink, nudge nudge*]
Playing sports - particularly basketball and tennis - also is a pastime for Aeris. [Aeris, recall how I said we'd first meet in court? You of course knew I meant the tennis court, right? ;)] Among her reads, J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings made her list of top favorites. Likewise, its trilogy her favorite movies. Her most preferred season? Winter. [TkN ponders if this is because Aeris' winter consists of 70 degrees weather and not snowstorms. :P That's a hint to those who wish to know where in the U.S. Aeris resides. ;) TkN, of course, does not encourage stalking behaviors. :P]

Additional Questions from Readers:
Reader: How do you manage your time with college life and blogging?
Aeris: Four secrets to multitasking:
1) Remember that blogging is just a hobby - school and work are always top priorities.
2) Do not spend a lot of time thinking about what to write; put it to better use.
3) Do not hesitate to place blog on frequent hiatuses without remorse.
4) Correct misleading reports of death.
Considering my frequent disappearances, I suspect quite a few visitors know that those are no longer my secrets!
Reader: Who is your favorite online blogger? Did any online blogger inspire you to open your blog?
Aeris: I do not have a favorite blogger. One of the best things about being one myself is having the opportunity to meet other bloggers out there with diverse backgrounds, personalities, and interests.
I would not say that another blogger inspired me to launch TVB Reflections, as I did so with the intention of sharing my thoughts on TVB series. I wanted to be a part of the online community and have something to contribute.
Reader: What do you like most about watching TVB serials?
Aeris: What I like most about watching TVB series is seeing the world through the eyes of Hong Kong citizens, allowing me to learn more about the Chinese culture and traditions. Growing up in the United States, I often see things from different perspectives, and sometimes feel frustrated at the conservative approaches to certain situations, but I am still intrigued. In the future, I hope to continue observing positive changes - albeit small ones - to the way people view men and women, homosexuals, sex, and any deviations from the "norm".
And to leave you with some words to ponder:
TkN: What is your favorite saying?
Aeris: From Douglas Adams, "There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
